Lutheran Music Program's mission is to transform lives and connect people through faith and music. We have offered a number of programs over the years to fulfill this mission. To see current events near you please visit our Calendar.
We currently have two partnerships that support student musicians in their journey to Lutheran Summer Music:
More than 90 congregations provide local scholarships for member youth to attend LSM.
Lutheran colleges and universities establish scholarships exclusively for LSM alumni.
Other programs include:
Hymn festivals are the embodiment of the Lutheran Music Program mission in action and we are proud to participate in or lead hymn festivals around the country throughout the year. If you live in the area of one of our festivals, please plan to join us! If you are a student, alumni, or faculty member interested in performing at a hymn festival, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org . Most hymn festivals are free and open to the public with a free will offering to benefit Lutheran Music Program. Check local listings for specific details.
Senior Adult Retreats
This five-day retreat for adults ages 55 and older took place during Festival Week at LSM and was supported through partnerships with ALOA (Association of Lutheran Older Adults) and Illinois-based Lutheran Life Communities. Retreat participants attended workshops, Bible studies and seminars, immersed themselves in LSM's culminating student recitals and concerts, and joined the LSM community for worship.
Middle School Choral Camps
Middle school aged students got a taste of LSM at one-week choir camps, held at various colleges and sites around the country. This was a great introduction for younger studetns who enjoyed singing at school or church and were considering LSM in the future. Days included vocal warm-ups and games, reading sessions and choir rehearsals, as well as an introduction to handbells, drum circles, and other arts activities.
